Re: Re: Ha ha ha!

That's a whole lot of things to change...

And I doubt the owner will take off the Eibach stickers - it allows the car to corner at 1g...c'mon now!

My rims are powder coated gloss black.

The entire car is all black. There is no blue in it.

I don't have current pics, but my calipers are polished.

The rims are SSR GT1.

17x9 and they are around 19lbs each.

Yep, it's one of the lightest, best looking, and strongest wheel, regardless of price.

I'm running 255ft and 275 rr with A032r.

I love SVX.

Like the RX7, both cars are like a niche / cult car.

I'm seriously considering a SVX in a few months for a daily beater that seats more than 2.

My RX7 is so modded that it's going to be a weekend warrior car.

People with similar mods to my car pull down low 11's high 10's.

I'm not a real big fan of drag racing.

This car was designed with autocross and track events in mind.

And that's the coolest kind of racing. I'm just a fan of both!

As much as I love my SVX, I would seriously consider something else as a daily beater. The SVX is complicated and expensive to maintain. It's very reliable, in my opinion - mine has served me very well - but failures are pretty expensive.

Of course, I don't know a lot about the RX-7. So for all I know an SVX might be a step up in reliability and affordability.

Anyway, I understand the attraction to the SVX. But if you're looking for a beater, might it not be a better idea to look for something a little more ubiquitous?

The 3 common problems seems to be easy to figure ownership costs.

The tranny is the biggest problem.

It should be cheaper to maintain than my RX7.

The most common problems are easy enough to plan for, and I'm glad you've taken that into consideration. But I just want to make sure that you understand that parts for this car tend to be much more expensive than those for other Subarus. Small things, like sensors, are often common across the range. But larger parts are not and can be pricey.

Also, I don't know what exactly you mean by 'beater.' The SVX has been known to repay bad treatment with frequent and expensive repairs.

I really don't want to discourage you, but I also want to fairly represent the car. I love it, and mine has been reliable, but most are now over 10 years old.

So, by all means, if you're really up for it, then I wish you the best of luck finding an SVX in good shape.

I agree.

I don't think the SVX would be a good "beater" car at all, not only for the fact that repair costs are WAY too high, but also to the fact that it is just too-high of a quality car to be used as a "beater" if you want a true "beater" use a POS Honda.

That's kind of funny. I bought my SVX for the exact same reasons as BATMAN is thinking of, but I had a 1996 Nissan 300Z instead of the RX7. A reason he hadn't mentioned though is the AWD, which I wanted because the Z sucked in the snow. So yes, my SVX gets driven in the snow and on salted roads, and I average about 25,000 miles per year in it.

And my summer/autox car that gets babied and lots of money (other than basic maintanance and repairs) spent on it is a Honda

edit: Oh, as for the original question, nice looking RX7, and yeah, if done properly, black wheels on a black SVX could look pretty nice. Mine are pretty faded, and I'd considered painting mine black, but I've pretty much decided to buy some rims (Tenzo Sinkos) from Dayle instead.
