OK, I want to be able to take a video of what is happening on my PC...
anyone know what software I would need to accomplish this? Basically, I have some footage that I recorded of myself in a game, and want to be able to share it with people who do not have that game...

There are lots of programs that will do this, but some are a lot less resource-intensive than others. I had to keep ths in mind while converting some obscure-format video on my work PC over to QuickTime...
