SVX Road Trip

Tomorrow, Rosie & I will be taking PEARLY on a road trip to Levittown, Long Island, NY. It's a family affair thing (2 yr. old birthday & backyard pool party). They want us to bring our bathing suits.

Maybe I'll get lucky and spot some other SVXes on the trip.

PS: Now where did I put my old Speedoo?

I can see you are showing your age when you are going to a pool party and use the phrase "maybe I'll get lucky" and then say that you may see a SVX.

I consider getting lucky when i turn the key and it starts..LOL...

Well, I certainly did not get lucky. Things were going fine until we got on the NY side of the Verazano Bridge. Then it was stop & go traffic for 2 hrs. That part of the trip should have taken only 30-45 min. I thought that it would ease up once we passed kKennedy Airport. Boy, was I wrong. I was another hour of stop & go driving. The SVX is not a great car for stop & go driving. Thanks to Mike we had a working CD player. It certainly was used.
Total trip time from northern DE to Levittown Long Island was about 5 hours. The time should have ben 3 1/2 to 4 hrs. The return trip was just as bad. Overall it was 10 hours driving (4 hrs. in bad traffic) just to spend 4 hrs. at a child's 2-yr. old birthday party.

I say that a bridge or tunnel must be built from north centrai NJ to the middle of Long Island. Or ferry service should be instituted.

You're welcome. I'm on try number 3 in my own car now. I've installed 3 new cd players this week. None have worked.

Well Larry, they have tried to institute a ferry service from LI to either Wall Street or Newark (can't remember which) more then once, and it always fails
IIRC the last attempt was to use a high speed hovercraft set-up.
Anyway, sorry to hear you had to sit in NYC's lovely traffic!

Thats the thing I hate most about going from CT. to PA. There is just no way around NY. It's the one time I hate having a 5speed.
