What you really need to do is polish the inside of each of them. There are a lot of existing posts about it here on the boards. Do a search for "clean headlight" or something general like that, and you'll find a lot. You're going to have to open them up by cooking them in an oven, or at least heat them until the glue melts...

The plastic lenses on the headlights are UV faded. Quite simply, the sunlight has damaged the plastic all the way through and it's completely irreparable. You can get replacement lenses if you want. All the ones I've seen require you to cut off the factory lens with a saw or similar tool and glue on the replacement. This requires some careful work, but the replacement lenses are all the clear type, which look pretty cool.

And another answer -

You can polish the headlights with a small scratch remover. Eagle has one, and other companies do too. If you do a search for cleaning of headlights, you will find many products that work. I have seen some go from a yellowish color to a clear lense in about 5 minutes. It is worth a try first, then if you need to, shake and bake!

I bought some plastic polish from Autozone for like $4 and after 3 applications it has really improved the appearance of my headlights! The yellow discoloration is almost gone, and the clarity of the plastic looks waaay better!

How hard is it to remove the headlight housing? Detach a few screws, or something more tricky?

If it's straight forward, I'll definitely give it a whirl!

You would be amazed at what just cleaning the outside can do. I use Mother's Mag & alluminum polish & it does wonders.. See ( before & after ) pics in my locker . Even if they dont look as good as mine they will look loads better.

I checked out the pics, and you're right, that's a huge difference! Mine look very close to yours right now after 3 applications of the plastic polish... Guess that Mother's stuff really works!

I've found that some softsoap or chrome polish really gets rid of the haze, mine are still yellowish though .

I've also read that really fine sandpaper (like 1000 grit) works too followed by 3M plastic cleaner.

I would love do the insides too if I ever get the courage. How risky is it and how long does it take (the ovening thing)?
