Wheel Bearings
How long does it typically take to replace the wheel bearings? (passenger side rear if it matters). I think the dealership is gouging me.

The book states 2.3 hours.

Huh.
Well, they wanted to charge me for 3½ hours. (about $400 total)....I *****ed and got about $40 off. What is this book you speak of? Is there an online source for it? Would be nice to be able to show them this in the future if I have any problems. |

That should be even less now. All the Subaru dealers are to use a new tool that allows the bearing replacement without pulling the wheel knuckle off the strut. It is similar to the hub tamer. This is assuming they can use the same tool as on the Forester. It is my opinion that if the dealer is using press you MAY be into an early failure of the replaced bearing.
