Check engine light turns on, in Cruise

One morning, I was checking things out in my car.
I noticed when I pushed the Fog light botton(Or the other botton in that area), the light doesn't work.
So, I decided to push all 3 bottons, to see if the lights worked on any of them.
I pushed the Criuse botton, and my engine totally wigged out, and made a horrable noise (Of course, I can't explain the noise)....It was like a *SNAP* and something else.
Then the car died.
I didn't want to, but I turned the car on again. Everything was normal.....Then I pushed the botton again. It made the idle shoot up, the CHECK ENGINE light came on, then killed my car.
Then I was thinking "Maybe it's because I'm in park, turning on the Cruise" But it's not. (When you turn the Cruise on, and leave it on, then park the car it doesn't act like that at all)..

The cruise still works(as of a couple of days ago)

So the cruise button is causing weird things to happen to your engine?

I would pull out those buttons and check behind for a loose connection. You can also check all the lights on those buttons while you're there.

May as well doublecheck all your fuses and see which engine code was tripped to give you some indication of what's going on here.
