heated mirrors
Is there a way to turn them on, or do they just go on when when you turn on the defroster?

I love my heated mirrors.
 They are the best best when it is foggy. Standard on a 92 LS-L.

run your vin and make sure youve got a 92. the button will have a mirror with wavy lines on it. a light comes on when activated.
side note: does everyones defrosters (mirrors and rear window) shut off automatically? mine does. just wondering if thats weird.

There should be a pair of rectangular switches just to the left of the steering column. The one on the left is your heated mirror switch. It has an amber LED which iluminates when it is on. The switch next to it is the parking light switch (allows you to have the parking lights on when the ignition is off)
These switches are in the same location as the coin holder, only on the opposite side. It is item "C" in the diagram here: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=830-A The switch assembly itself would be No. 6 on the list, P/N 83001PA131MD

As it turns out I do have the heated mirror button, I just thought it was the rear defroster button, I just didn't look at the button that closly.

i didnt think 97s had heated mirrors.
i looked at the diagram and tried to find which is the fog light switch. i think i see an 18, but it looks like a 16. were fogs not standard cuz i dont have a button that turns on any extra lights and ive been needing one up here the past week. its looking like london dusk these recent nights.

im going to go look.
ahha. ive always wondered what that was. i thought it was headlight defrosters mine dont work. the button doesnt even light up. none of my fuses are bad. perhaps mine arent hooked up?

i had to go look too. my 97 does have the heated mirror button next to the parking lights switch. and i have three buttons on the left of the steering wheel: cruise, fog lights, and security. on the right, there is a blank, rear defrost, and hazards. now i have to know what the blank button is for.
