Porsche Cayenne

I see these on the roads around here: Who would want to buy a Porsche SUV rated at 450 hp??

http://www2.us.porsche.com/english/u...bo/default.htm

If you ask me these are quite an unattractive SUV!! Looks like any Honda SUV!

There are dozens of these over here, Why not just buy a VW for half the price?

The Car and Driver people got it stuck in a damp from morning dew farmer's field during their test. Got pulled out by an F150.

It's incredibly ugly, incredibly unpracticle, and I lost a LOT of respect for porsche. Next thing you know they'll start building 4 door family sedans or something. The Cayenne was a huge mistake and will be laughed at in the future like we laugh at the Edsel today.

That's why they don't put their logos on either the front or rear, only on the wheels?? What a pile of garbage...

hmmmmm

I seem to remember another manufacturor of high end sports cars making an SUV in the late 80's early 90's. Anyone remember that paticulur Lamburgini?? In my opinion it was ugly as crap too. So when do you think the Ferrari SUV is due around 2014?? Or maybe it'll be a McLaren FUV?? Im starting to think if they have a specialty they should just stick with it.

Ah yes, that would be the Lamborghini LM500. But at least it was built for a purpose, to be the fastest off-road vehicle in the world, not to be just another fad. It was basically a Countach engine stuffed in a Wrangler type body, radically different that the Cayenne.

As far as the Porsche, I've seen a couple around, and I think their hidious. But do I think any less of Porsche for it, of course not. There isn't a car company in business today that hasn't made a huge mistake, and to my knowledge, this is Porsche's first.

the Cayenne is not a mistake and its not a changing direction for
Porsche - it is simply a way to generate money so they can stay an independant car company and keep doing what they do best - sports cars.

if i had the money, i'm sure i wouldn't mind the twin turbo V8, the electronic adjustable ride height, shift programs, and suspension settings. i saw a show (Motor Trend TV?) where the guy was in love with the thing, even though he was expecting to not like it.

the 911 RS is coming back, BTW.

LMAO! That's priceless! I wouldn't mind having all the HP though. Perhaps that's why it got stuck? AWD not enough to put that kinda power to the ground on wet grass?

Borcht SUV

...And then there are the brainless tv ads.
The first one run here shows the guy in the
city taxi spying a Cayenne and telling the
cabbie to follow it...which he does, flailing
the hack to pieces in the process, but still
eventually catching up with it...proving of
course, that a clapped-out Chevy Caprice
can go anywhere a Cayenne can go.

Then there's the second one, showing this
moron driving along in his RV. He passes
a Cayenne waiting on a side road to get
on the highway behind him. After he passes
the Porsche, what's he do? He sets the cruise,
gets up out of the driver's seat and runs to the
back of the RV so he can watch the Porsche come
up and go by, after which, he runs back and
jumps into the driver's seat with a stupid
smirk on his face. At this point, Wifey, asleep
in the pass. seat, wakes up and stares at him
as if to say, "You Dipsh*t!"

I mean, really Porsche...Dumb and Dumber.

Why it got stuck

If the Cayenne is anything like all the other luxury SUV's on the market today, than the reason it got stuck has nothing to do with the power of the engine, the problem comes from all the "safety" control systems. The same thing happened to MT during last years SUV of the Year contest with the Escalade. The instant the Escalade's wheels started to spin in the sand, all the electronic systems that steal control from the driver kicked in at once, and basically killed the engine. I would assume this is what happened with the Cayenne.
