Bad Weather

Here's hopiing that all of the SVXers their families, friends and SVXes are in good shape in fire ravaged Colorado and the other fire ravaged western states.

The eastern seaboard states (VA, WV, DC, MD, DE, PA,NJ, & NY) had very bad storms this weekend. Here's hoping that all of our fellow SVX family and theirs' came through unscathed.

All those SVXers in the affected areas should check in here to let us know if you & yours are OK, or if you need anything.

Re: Bad Weather

Hi Larry.
No electricity since Friday night.
I have a 5.5hp, 2000 watt generator, ran it to the well pump for COLD water, TV, the aquarium air pump, refridgerator, occasional microwave use.
Its enough, but you must make choises.
Tried to heat water in a covered TWO gallon stock pot, using the heat of the generator exhaust for a bath.
With FOUR gallons of hot water in a standard sized tub, already filled with now ambiant temperature water, (after sitting overnight) its still cold!
More on this later.
Tom

Re: Bad Weather

We lost power for 5 days back in October. I now have a 8 k generator with full house transfer switch thanks to Lowe 's . That is like a guarantee we will never lose power again. Like when I bought my 1st 4 wheel drve after having a blizzard that shut down the state. We have not got that much snow since. Here is hopin you are all safe , necessity is the mother of invention. Try heating water on a fire.

Nice size generator!
I got the electricity back yesterday afternoon. YAAAAA!!!!!
I could have heated water on the gas grill, but wanted to try some "free energy".
Yesterday I made a solar water heater that worked, some.
And when I'm not busy I'll delve into it again.
