How to set idle higher?
The stupid dealership would not honor their previous trade in offer on the SVX so I am going to sell it through craigslist. The fact that the car idles better with a/c got me thinking. When the a/c is on, the car idles higher, at around 800-900 rpm's. If I could make the car idle at around 800-900 all the time it would resolve the rough idle issue. When the a/c is on the car idles great. How do I set the idle higher?

Short answer: you can't.
Long answer: The Idle speed is set in the ECU, and can't be adjusted. However, you can ask LAN to burn you an ECU with a higher idle programmed in. That will set you back some $$ though. I would focus on fixing the actual issue rather than a band-aid fix. It could be something pretty simple. When were the spark plugs last done?

On my son's pearlie, we tightened up the two throttle cables just enough to raise the idle about 150 rpm.
Loosen the 2 nuts on each cable, adjust and tighten. One cable is direct to the throttle and the other is for the cruise control. Not the preferred way, but he drove it that way for over a year. didn't seem to hurt anything. .

If with A/C on it goes up to 800 it is too low with out A/C on . My 5 speed idles at about 8:00 all the time and it barley passed emissions . I have to turn on the a/c to pass.

Still you are not fixing the rough idle problem and your using more fuel by raising the idle. Just keep that in mind.
