Driver's side window broke...

Yep, this has been a bad week for me. Crank shaft pulley, alternator, overheating issue leading me to go through 2 sensors and a dealership visit and now my driver's side window just broke. (And I have some strange hesitation issue but I don't even want to think about it at the moment...)

I went to roll it down and heard a snap then what sounded like something fell inside the door. Luckily my window is stuck shut...

Any suggestions on this? I'm extremely uncomfortable working on interior bits of the car. I'm guessing something just sheared off. I have no idea how to get the door panel off either, if anyone has a picture of all the parts exploded it'd really be a life saver.

Re: Driver's side window broke...

The sleeve lock regulator broke. A cheap and easy repair.

The part number is 62101PA081 about $9.00 from your dealer. I keep a spare on hand in case the other one breaks.

The document which describes how to take off the interior door panel to get to the regulator can be found HERE

Another description can be found HERE

Here are photos of what you will see inside the door and they will guide you through the fix. Just click HERE

OK, first order one of these from your Subaru garage.
62101PA081 Sleeve Lock Regulator

There are two black phillips head screws that you can see at the leading edge of the door trim pannel.
In your armrest pocket there are two vertical phillips screwsunder the trim cloth.
After you pop out the platic "wood" D shaped trim piece, remove the last gold phillips head screw at your door handle.
Pull the bottom of the trim pannel horizontallyaway from the door,
(with the door open)
Lift up and pull away the trim pannel, after removing the two electrical clips.
Now you can pull away the clear plastic door liner, and you get to look for the broken part at the bottom of the inside of the door.
Are you having fun yet?

Re: Driver's side window broke...

Same problem happened to me, and I replaced the Sleeve Lock Regulator, but it still won't budge. It looks like the wire is twisted by the motor but it is almost impossible to get at. Anyone have a suggestion or pictures of what it should look like down there?
