Re: backseatbelts

The parts all told only weigh 5 lbs. They're not that crafty to remove. Given the choice, if you use your backseat for passengers at all, keep them. You should be able to stuff the belts behind the rear seat and pull the clasps through the seat bottom.

Re: backseatbelts

yeah, i wasnt looking to lose weight
but just gain some visual cleanliness in the back
and you were right, the bottom of the seat comes off surprisingly easily
just shoved the middle ones down, and tucked the side ones under some of the panels...
looks good
as for the back passengers, if there is any... i will refer to them to the first 5 minutes of the movie "Old School"

Re: backseatbelts

Removal of hte rear belts is... fun. The top bolt after you remove the rear panel, doesn't have enough clearance for a wratchet, doesn't give you enough swing room for a wratcheting box wrench, so you end up turning 1/16th of a turn at a time to loosen that bolt. And it's a pain to get to. Tint your windows, it's easier and no one can see in.

Re: backseatbelts

You may want to check into the legality of removing the belts.

Re: backseatbelts

legality?
roflmao, ofcourse its illegal!
and the safety aspect of it is negligible, if youre gonna believe every lame commercial or gov't sponsored ad you see...
i recall seeing a study saying that once upon a time, seatbelts caused more deaths than they prevented.

but sadly, that is not the point here
i dont believe in others telling me what to do with my property
but i like that tinting advice, lol. ill likely do that as well

Lap belts (implies no shoulder support!) when worn improperly (above the hip) can cause substantial injuries to one's innards in a head-on collision. With shoulder support, the lap portion of a 3-point belt can still make a mess if you find the urge to hike the belt up over your pelvis. I guess this would be easier to do if you were short (as children are), or if you were wearing it very loosely.

Simple physics will tell what the passengers behind you without belts on will do when the front of the car decides to stop suddenly. You don't need to be a genius to know that being ejected from a rolling car is certain death. Everyone in the car should buckle up for best safety, and there is no loosely quoted, out-of-context report spinning about it!
