Question The point of that switch is ...

Does anyone else have a switch to the left of the hood opener (right for you lhd peeps), that alters the location of the windscreen wipers ?? Just found it earlier and wondered what point of it was. Its a 1995 Jap Spec.

Cheers

I am pretty sure that all SVX's have that switch. It's purpose is to locate the wipers up on the windshield a little higher for the winter for cleaning and melting ice off of them. Plus you can not lift them up off of the windshield without changing the switch position.

That's called a summer/winter switch, I think. It 'parks' the wipers lower in the summer, when you don't use them as often, and makes them accessible for 'single swiping' in the winter. And as nubs says, it makes them easier to lift up in the winter setting. Oh, uhm, heheh, , reverse everything I just said, Mr. Down Under Boy.

Actually, that switch allows you to park the wipers higher so that they don't get frozen to the car as easily in snow/ice conditions.

Cool

The winter position switch is THE one toy probably ONLY found on the SVX. When my friends brag about their GPS, their built-in garage door openers, their heated steering wheels... well, I say, "Betcha' can't do this" Heh-heh. Oooooh! Polo Green with envy!
At this point I also explain the winter position visors & stealth under hood light.

Ron.

sorry to break it to you ron, but my acura has that feature as well. Only it's not as nice and requires a small screwdriver to put it in the different mode. I found it really anoying and always left it in summer. The SVX's design is far better than any i've seen

Hah! No fair breaking out the toolkit, say I! Even a Cavalier owner can remove the wipers & move'm a notch or two with a bloody wrench.
OK - any other cars got the dash light brightener button???
Get real. Ron.
