Racing pads and rotor questions.
So I've been looking for a decent racing pad for the race car and we do have a source for some slightly used slotted rotors but every good pad I've come across says that for racing slotted or drilled rotors are bad and won't work good with the pads. Just wondering then why everybody and their mother seems to want rotors like this as I already know that in normal street driving you really don't need such rotors. Am I missing something. Also, any ideas for some economical pads that would do good in autoxing and some track use crossover? Doesn't need to be something good for the street as it won't see that kind of use ever.

Ben,
I've been using the PBR pads that Wood sold me along with the slotted rotors and I've got no complaints. I've been running them for over 2 years now. You might want to check out Tire Rack for the pads they carry - you're going to seee the trade off in "grab" vs "resistance to fade". The key is going to be making sure to "seat" the new pads in on the rotors correctly. Good luck! -Bill

i'll sell you some AXXIS Ultimate front pads - i had them on for a week, less than 150 miles. most noticeable brake upgrade i did to the car - they BITE! unfortunately, they DUST LIKE CRAZY! if they are just for racing, though, who cares?
if you want 'em, $15?

Yeah, Bill that's why I'm asking, although I really don't see many of the "real" compeditor's in autoxing in the area sporting slotted or drilled either now that I think about it.

Ah but that isn't racing. From what I've read they don't hold up to the high temps generated and tend to crack (our race car's rotors now have a purple hue to 'em. Alan's pads are a definate improvement. Can't thank him enough. I hope he got a decent case with the $$
