Approx cost to re-seal the H-6?

I'm thinking of taking my SVX in this up coming fall to getting my H-6 re-sealed. What's the approx cost of having this done at a reputable garage?

To re-seal the engine, will they need to remove the timing belt cover? Would it be a good idea to change all belts at this time as well?

Chike,

When you say "re-sealed", do you mean completely? If so, you should by an engine gasket set, #10105AA060. That has every engine gasket in it.

However, at your mileage I'm not sure it's worth it. I'm on my second 140,000 mile + SVX with original headgaskets, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets...etc etc.

Yes, the timing covers would have to come off. This allows access to the crank and cam seals.

Yeah, changing the crank and cam seals along with the belts is a good idea. I usually wait for problems to occur before I fix them, but there's nothing wrong with changing out parts before they go bad

That's what I'm thinking as well. My slow oil drip has come back, so I'm thinking of changing the cam and crank seals to get rid of it once and for all. Figured I might as well do the 120K timing belt change ahead of time as well...

Any idea on labor cost? What would the parts run (all belts + all cam and crank seals)?

Thanks!

Actually, 99% of my pay is salary. I like that because I am not under pressure to sell anything, so I don't have to pressure anyone to buy anything If only more salespeople ccould be like that Nothing annoys me more than going into my local Staples and being followed around the store by 6 salespeople!

Chike,

Your approx parts costs:

Timing belt: 66.00
Alt belt: 11.00
AC belt: 20.00
seals: 5.00 each

Service is still working on a labor estimate. You don't want a 120k service right? Just the belts and seals?

That's correct.

Everything else in the 120K service I could do in my garage...

Chike,

From what I hear you're looking at about 4 hours for labor.
