alternator rite???

i just need confermation on what i assume is the alternator giving in. car was in park, off and i had my lights and radio on. lights flicker and power goes down. i turn the key and i hear a brief clicking (sounds like spark plugs firing from what i remember from shop class years back). i got it jumped and it was all good, i drove around parked went to a diner it started and all that crap. do i go for a BECK/ARNLEY 95 AMP for $249.82 or a DURALAST-IMPORT 80 AMP for $190.99, both from Autozone. I would say battery if you can jump it. The battery is not charging.

I agree. New battery time.

The SVX's charging system is a little insufficient. Since it relies on the battery frequently for surplus power, it'll wear a battery out more quickly than you'd expect.

alternator recomendations

Do not go to any chain parts stores for alternators. The SVX is a little odd. Your best bet is to go to an old fashioned electric shop and have yours rebuilt. It should cost under $125 and you will have a superior product and you can work with them if any warranty or out of warranty problems come up. Just had my alternator worked on again for the 2nd time in a year.
