Auto trannie removal, advice.
I am about to take out the auto, and noticed that a front subframe brace needs to be removed to get the suto out. Is this correct? THANKS

Yes
Two bolts hold it in.

You're welcome. Be careful with the trans, it's beefy!

yeah I will really try to not get crushed by the trannie, do you have to remove the sterring rack? It dosent look like you have to, but it could stand a chance at getting crused by the auto. Also how high does the car have to be to get the auto out from under the car? right know I pretty sure i dident put the car up high enough on the jack stands.

I had my car pretty high up. I never measured, but if you want some reference look in my locker. I have photos, under the 'tranny install' folder in my locker, of the replacement of my own transmission.
Be careful that you don't over-extend the jack stands you're using. You wouldn't want them to buckle or otherwise collapse while you're under the car. Oh, and no, you don't need to remove the steering rack. You can pull the tranny back and down and it'll clear the rack just fine. What are you using to support and lower the transmission? Remember that, with fluid, that sucker weighs close to 300 pounds. Oh, and make sure to support the front of the engine. Otherwise it'll tip forward into the radiator.

I am planing on using a jack to lower the trannie, but i have money for tools so is a trannie jack really needed. What did you use. I already drained all the fluids out of the auto.

I understand that many floor jacks have transmission adapters, but the jack I bought laid very flat, so it fit extremely well under the car. It also provided a very wide, stable base. Photos are in my locker.
