problem with computer

Ok my home built computer turns the monitor off every time I open limewire. It hasnt always done this untill recently. I tried uninstalling and restalling limewire, and that didnt do any thing. I searched through and found no answer. Does any one know what I should try or where to even look to find how to fix this?

That's a weird one. Check your display drivers to make sure they are up-to-date and Java desktop compatible (Limewire uses Java desktop). Also make sure that either "Plug and Play monitor" or the name of your monitor shows under the "settings" tab in the display dialogue.

You said it only started doing this recently...does that mean that you've had Limewire for much longer and all of a sudden this started? If that's the case, consider what you have changed in that time. If you updated Limewire or your display drivers, those are obvious likely issues. But even updating windows regularly can create problems like this, so if all else fails, you can try rolling back your updates one by one until it works again. If you find no success in all that, you may have a dying video card or monitor.

Personally i've always had bad experience with limewire, it's a poorly written java app that's unstable as hell. Have you tried torrents? much more reliable, no issues, and you can use them for everything(minus 12yr old + horse porn). I watch heroes every week, but i don't have cable. I download the HD broadcast and watch it on my 30" widescreen computer monitor. Music, same thing. Long as you know where to look, anything/everything.

I've seen limewire conflict with everything. Everyone i know has had such problems with it. It was largely abandoned due to the lack of a stable build.
