Need advice
What's up everyone? I've always known of SVXs but never really gave them a second glance. Not saying I ever hated them, just didn't know much about them. Currently my family only has one vehicle, a 2010 Taurus. We have two small toddlers so we will be lugging around car seats for a while. My question is mainly would buying an SVX for a second car mainly for me be a smart move? Just not sure about the reliability of these cars and only know a few problems that they are accustomed to. I'm a car enthusiast and not long ago had to get rid of my 91 civic si on account of the babies.
I have found a few for sale here and there but the one that has caught my eye is a 93 LS-L Aniversary AWD with 133xxx miles. It's around $3,450 |

Re: Need advice
I might get shouted down for this, but with two small children it's likely to be a car you'll enjoy by yourself rather than with your family, You'll probably grow weary of putting seats & babies in the back.
I have no idea of your financial situation, but typically having a couple of children tends to sap spare income you may have. That's income you might need to keep your SVX in good running order. Mine has been a money pit, but to be fair it was tired when I bought it and I've always paid others to do the work on it. Let the discussion begin. |

Re: Need advice
Our twins are turning 15 in June - and soon bigger than me.... Enjoy the SVX when the kids are still small !
I say go for it ! Tapani |

Re: Need advice
Getting a car that does not require a small fortune to get it back into good shape is a crap shoot. I put money into mine but lucky for me most of it was not needed costs just improvements I wanted.
That being said check out the car fully, or have it checked out. even things like wheel bearings are not easy an probably not cheap to change. if the car is in great shape both mechanically and body I say go for it, the putting in of car seats should be only needed a few times, the seats can stay in the car right? getting the kids in is not that bad, I have 2 autistic sons and so have to do this still, one can put his own seatbelt on but the other can not. |

Re: Need advice
I would vote no. If you want something a little sporty that will handle the kids and have good reliability, buy a more recent Impreza WRX.
I personally would not want to be putting babies and car seats in the back seat all the time. The trunk is also quite limited. Last edited by Blacky; 02-06-2014 at 10:52 AM. |

If you want exclusivity and a tad more luxurious interior, try to find the Saab version.
