Started out boring, got interesting, became boring again, dragged on for a while with what seems like good heart, but near the end I can't shake the feeling it's a propagandous glorification of unjustified pre-emptive strikes on inferior countries. The same super pseudo-patriotism that got us into this mess.
If you like the way things are giong you will obviously disagree, be it true or not.

When Michael Moore makes a hugely successful film praising Saddam’s paradise and calling these people who bomb women and children in marketplaces “freedom fighters,”
Is this comment verifiable?

Anyone else reading between the lines and seeing what I'm seeing?

So its ok to bash Bush but not the fat man?

That aside, I did enjoy reading that. He had alot of good points IMHO.

The "fat man" (whoever that is) is not running this country into the ground and if you are talking about Moore, he hasn't even done anything wrong as far as I know.

Thats just it though, you bash Bush because you feel what he's doing is wrong. Why can't I bash Moore for the same reason? If you don't have a problem with Moore, thats fine, but I do. So I like to bash him. Aren't we all so similar?

Sure, we can be similar, if you can procure even a single instance of me "bashing" Bush, or anyone of celebrity status for that matter.

I guess that's a roundabout way of me telling you that you are wrong to imply I have some double standard, speaking only ill of people I don't like but only well of those I do. (Fact is, I'll call out anyone that deserves it, friend or foe)

What made you bring up Bush anyways?

Never really meant it like you, yourself (I know I did say "you" but it was more of a generalization) were bashing Bush, was just alittle "eh" that you would mention the one thing about Moore.

But while we're on that subject:

From the "Amero" thread:

Note, that isnt exactly Bush "bashing" but alot of it is heavy personal opinion and is border line "bashing".

And from the "A love Story in Three Pictures" thread:
Quote:

Just so you know, im in no way implying that stating your opinion's is not wanted or not condoned, just that if you're going to call someone out for bashing a certain person, expect to have someone else call you out on things.

I mainly bring up Bush because he is the one now-a-days who gets bashed on the most. In all honesty, I don't have a problem with Bush, he's not the best President we've had, but I wouldn't say he's the worst either.

I do have something against Michael Moore, honestly, movies like Fahrenheit 9/11, aren't really called for (not because of patriotism or believing everything the government tells us) but in respect to the families of the people who died that day.

I did however, like the video of when Michael Moore brought all those gay men to Fred Phelps' door.

I will bash Moore for his political views because alot of them are bizarre and off the wall, but as a person, he seems like hes got a smidge of decent human being in him.

Just my .02 cents

read this, hippie. if making films about crap facts isn't wrong, then he's a great American patriot. try to read the whole thing - don't get distracted by shiny tin-foil hats.

For the record, "bashing" to me extends beyond simple opinions and even fact based allegations. I'm not out calling the man a human screw up or even saying anything is solely his fault. He's one cog in a political machine.

Regarding Moore, I merely asked if that comment was verifiable. "praising Saddam’s paradise" seems way over the top. That would be the equivalent of someone saying Bush loves pure wanton destruction. Not something I would do. It's an allegation you can base on fact, but it's also an unfair attack on his character. Not something I do.

I see though, you were generalizing. That is something I do a lot, saying "you" when I mean "a lot of people".

Before I read that, let me just say I'm not a ****ing hippie, (expletives deleted).

----
Wow, half way through this thing you linked to, are you trying to waste my time? This is pointless, heavily biased DRIVEL from a neo-con nit wit. Bashing of the highest order.

--
The very first line, "One of the many problems with the American left, and indeed of the American left, has been blah blah", is indicitave of heavy bias. This is a person that sees people not as Americans, but as left and right, red and blue, rich and poor, so on. Much like yourself, labeling me as "hippie" when you don't even know me.

This in my opinion is one of the sources of downfall in society and modern culture. I can see why you like this author. Congrats.

Well, one thing we know for sure is that Michael Moore is not a patriot, nor proud of the country in which he gets all of the liberties and pursuit of happiness.

That very well may be true, depending on your point of view and definition of patriotism. I don't know the man. He does however feel concern for a great number of people who are not as lucky as him and if he feels there is room for much improvement in the way this country is run, I can't disagree.

Isn't profit every greedy Americans goal? The majority of people are just trying to make bucks off other people, though on what scale, may vary.

Micheal Moore at least used some of his wealth to pay for some random people's medical bills and operations. At the same time he's fighting for the rights of the poor.
