I've had the windshield in my Yellow one replaced with the one out of my parts car, the windshield guy had to be careful cutting them out so that he could save the gasket, then reseal it when he put it in the other car.
So you don't Have to have the gasket....but it does make it easier on the installer if you do have it.

P.S. I would definately sign up to purchase a Bronze if others are interested. 25 might be difficult but why don't we start a group buy on it and see what happens...too soon for that?

Lee can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that he was referencing the titanium oxide coating and not the blue/bronze tint. I see nothing in the auction or your email about an actual coating???

Anyway, What's the deal on Moldings. Tom and others have stated the molding and windshield are one piece. Saw a post that said any good windshield shop can make their own gasket. Done most things on the car except the windshield so just wondering what peoples experience is with installation.
Yeah but it won't be an original gasket look. Kinda pieced together but works fine for those on a jy budget.

Personally I don't know why everybody needs a cheap glass place in the first place. My glass coverage with a $50 deducable for my SVX is all of $17 a year now and no I don't have full coverage on the car. You just need to shop around to find a place that will give it to ya.

I myself use a sunshade anyway, to keep my car cooler in the summer...

And by NOT having the coating, it means your radar detector, and garage door opener, and toll pass would work through it like they should

I mean, I'd prefer the stock coating, but would put one of these in mine if I hadn't already put a used one in it.

For me the answer is simple ... I bought a wrecked SVX with a busted windshield.

As did I, but not everyone has the availability, nor the place to store a parts car.

I'm glad to see ANY aftermarket company making parts for our cars, as I doubt Subaru will make any more windshields (and several other parts) when their stock runs out.

So support those companies that do make something for our beloved SVXs, as it will help keep them on th eroad much longer.

Ah but keep in mind that any cheap glass installer I ever worked with at Manhole AA always complained about the lifespan of aftermarket glass compared to the original so Go get glass coverage now and when your new shield breaks go with OEM glass!

Yes, I am referring to the titanium oxide coating which does prevent dash cracking. Of course it reduces radar detector ranges also, as most of us know. I do not believe the aftermarket glass has this coating. I am not an expert, but supposedly that is one of the reasons for the high costs of the OEM glass.
