Head gasket set and bolts, recommendation pls

Well I took my svx on a little jaunt across europe from the uk and found it was drinking coolant. The temp gauge starts to climb when it is low on coolant and sitting in traffic but otherwise doesn't overheat.

So i did a sniff test and it turned yellow pretty quickly once the engine had warmed up.

This all means i'm going to have to yank the motor and do the head gaskets.

Can you recommend head gasket brand and top end gasket set along with head bolts???

I assume there are better options than genuine subaru. I was even considering cometic head gaskets or is it not worth the extra cash?

Thanks in advance for the advice
Jan

Hi ive been a subaru tech for 38 years there is no reason to change these bolts unless they are damaged ,a factory engine kit gives you things you can buy in the after market

Re: Head gasket set and bolts, recommendation pls

Thanks trophy956.
On the bolts how does the torque sequence differ when reusing the old bolts as I assume the factory sequence takes into account the bolts being stretch or TTY bolts?

Also would you have a part number for OEM top end gasket kit.
Here in the UK the dealers are scarce and few have ever seen an Svx let alone ordered parts for one. My local dealer sucked his teeth and told me it would be 6 weeks if he could get it last time I tried to order power steering pump gaskets! So armed with a part number i could order from US online Subaru.

Thanks
Jan
