I had an idea about how to get some more hood clearance for the supercharger pulley. I think I can take bad SVX motor mounts and pour new urethane in them except with the top and bottom plates closer together to lower the engine.

Anyone that has blown SVX motor mounts drop me a pm please and I'll paypal you some money to ship them to me.

bad idea... the urethane won't take to metal as well as you would hope... And it DEFINATELY doesn't take to stock rubber.

I wouldn't leave any of the old urethane on there and I can prep the metal and even drill holes and make molds so the urethane goes through the metal pieces and forms retaining plugs.

If you really want to go through all of that trouble... BUT you really shouldn't go any lower than the GroupN mounts because the engine will hit the PS rack and the subframe

I think I'd rather pour new urethane in the svx mounts than mangle the svx plate to fit the grupe n mounts.

understandable if you can get it done right... But DONT go lower than a 1/4" or you will start hitting stuff down there... Not to mention changing the geometry of the driveline as well

No mangling required. All that is needed is to weld an adapter plate to the SVX mounting plate. In terms of effort, I think it would be far easier to weld on this little chunk of steel than it would be to tear apart, drill, and fill stock SVX mounts.

That is to keep the height and actually probably raise the engine height a little bit. To lower the engine height you have to cut out a bunch of one of the svx plates. There is plenty of mangling.

The STi Group N mounts are about 1/4" shorter than stock. With the 1/8" thick plate shown in the pic, the engine sits 1/8" lower.

I have actually been thinking of doing this as well. I think both Tom and Mike are correct. I removed most of the rubber from one mount. A great deal of surface prep and some drilling will be necessary to make everything work with a casting. I have been considering some materials to use for this.

http://www.mcmaster.com/

Check page 3495 for the urethane casting compounds. I'm thinking of using the 94A or 80A grade. It depends on how pliable we want the mounts.
