Ron, great stuff.

Have you applied for copy rights ? I am sure you did write it and did not copy it, right ! Come to think on it you may even have solemn rites. Whatever, you tickled my fancy. Good one.

Ron,

I doff my Box-O-Hat to you.

PS: Trevor, This is supposed to be a family friendly site. Don't let Ron tickle your fancy. After all he seems to be quite familiar with the DeSade bird stuffing process, and everyone knows that it's only a hop, skip and a jump from tickled fancy to stuffed bird.

PPS: Maybe Ron can also tell us about the fowl history of
Buffalo Wings ?

Y'all gone nuts?!

How about a newsy bit? There are more chickens (of the beaked variety) on the planet earth than there are human beings. Heaven help us if they should become tired of being stuffed or quartered and choose to revolt. We simply must ban the movie "Chicken Run" before it is too late!!!

Of the reality of mangled language we have French versions of the Canadians settling in Louisiana. Transformed to "A Canadian?" to "Arcadian?" to "A Cajun?". This one is actually true.

Which brings me to Menomonee Falls WI eventually evolving to "Menomonee Falls?", "Menopause?", "Monotonous Walls?", "Phenomanal Balls?"

Y'all be careful with that language out there, ya hear?

And I still think she's cute!

Phenomanl Balls? Now you're referring to chicken skin again, no?

French quotes

Thought this would be as good a place as any to share some quotes about France!

"France has neither winter nor summer nor morals. Apart from these drawbacks it is a fine country. France has usually been governed by prostitutes." --- Mark Twain

"Next time there's a war in Europe, the loser has to keep France." --- Author unknown

"I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French one behind me." --- General George S. Patton

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordion." --- Norman Schwartzkopf

"We can stand here like the French, or we can do something about it." ---- Marge Simpson

"As far as I'm concerned, war always means failure" --- Jacques Chirac, President of France

"As far as France is concerned, you're right." --- Rush Limbaugh,

"The only time France wants us to go to war is when the German Army is sitting in Paris sipping coffee."
--- Regis Philbin

"The French are a smallish, monkey-looking bunch and not dressed any better, on average, than the citizens of Baltimore. True, you can sit outside in Paris and drink little cups of coffee, but why this is more stylish than sitting inside and drinking large glasses of whiskey I don't know."
--- P.J O'Rourke (1989)

"You know, the French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who was still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it." --- John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona

"You know why the French don't want to bomb Saddam Hussein? Because he hates America, he loves mistresses and wears a beret. He is French, people." --- Conan O'Brien

"I don't know why people are surprised that France won't help us get Saddam out of Iraq. After all, France wouldn't help us get the Germans out of France!" --- Jay Leno

"The last time the French asked for 'more proof' it came marching into Paris under a German flag."
--- David Letterman

I read a story about the French Resistence in World War II, he was an amazing guy!......Thomas H. Smith

LOL...at this moment nothing but that may change. It all depends on what stumbles into my Inbox.

London's "Daily Mirror" is known as a strong left-wing, anti-US newspaper. So, Imagine my surprise when someone sent me this article from Tony Parsons.

As much has I've had my differences of opinion over the past couple of decades regarding the way our country is being run I must confess that there is no other nation on earth I'd prefer to call home. There is no other place on earth possessing America's uniqueness. I think it was an interview with James Baker I was watching when he said basically you could go live in Germany but could never become a German, you could go live in Japan and never become Japanese, you could go live in France and never become French. The United States of America is the only place on earth that if you want to you can actually become an "American".

I have my issues with my country. That's a good thing! How boring a place would this be if everyone saw things the same way? How would we ever grow if we weren't different? Everyone is free (at least for now) to express themselves without the threat of a bullet in the head for doing so.

And regardless of how far down range we get as a nation it is nice to hear someone say we really still have a lot to offer.

Thanks for the link, Randy, it's picked me up a bit on an otherwise unpleasant week.

Daily Mirror

Randy,
I have always been curious about just how Britiain fits into the Euro-picture, and I think they are not really sure either. Seems like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole or approach-withdrawl syndrome. When I lived over there, this push for unity was just getting a head of steam, and I have watched it with interest ever since. They have taken issue with almost every Euro (French-German) idea to homogenize everyone and everything in western Europe. I think that article hits the nail on the head. Some knew it all along, and others are just catching on. Culturally speaking...as that article said...

...the English Channel is wider than the Atlantic! Don

French mail.

We Irish have a long standing relationship with the
French, who in part, are Celtic brethren. And more importantly at the right party, sisteren.

Nice to see this thread runs along the lines of derivatives, not derogatives.

And Lightning, I have heard of Viagra Falls, but I would not expect a rising tourist trade at Menopause Falls.

The French have long term trade interests and historical connections at stake here. Check it out before you slag them too much. For them, the possibility of harm to the Iraqi man, woman or child in the street is more acute than it is for those of us who have not traded much.

Ron, your Kain Tuck story begs a line from a song...

"came the deafening roar....of chickens.....in choppers"
