Car falling flat on its face?

What's up guys? I met another SVX owner at my gym yesterday, and she has an odd problem. Sometimes she'll be driving, and the car will fall flat on its face, and she'll put it into neutral, turn it off, then turn it back on, and it'll be back to normal. I'm not familiar with transmission resistor issues, and she does have the 16 power light flash, so there is a transmission code somewhere, but I don't know if it's related. Anyone with similar experiences?

I'd bet the MAF (mass air flow) sensor went goofy. Mine did - same results. Swapped it out two years ago. It's easy. Now all's peace & harmony.

Ron.

HERP DERP. She's a few years too old for me guys :P. She did hang around her car to see who the hell else had an SVX. Good call on the MAF btw, I saw that it was messing up on idle today, but wasn't sure if it was related to this issue as well.

Mine would do the same thing before replacing it. She may want to try Maf cleaner to hold her over while waiting for the replacement to come.

Re: Car falling flat on its face?

How did everyone know what "fall flat on its face" meant, and what are the various symtoms of a bad MAF? I thought an MAF problem showed when an engine is hot, and wouldn't it have shut down again, if not right away? Thanks.
