belt changing
i was looking at replacing my AC belt but the pulley's are right up againt the fan shroud, maybe cause the transmission is still out but anyone have have little to no room between the pulley's and the fan? or do i have to take the fan shroud off to replace the belts?

Re: belt changing
I pulled both the A/C and P/S belts without removing anything except the belt cover. I had plenty of room as well. There must be a good 3-4 inches between the belts and the fan shroud and that's plenty of room to get those belts off.

Re: belt changing
That is all I remove as well. No problem changing them with that removed.

Re: belt changing
It is probably because the trans is out of the car. The transmission creates more wight on the back of the motor causing it to sit normal. When you remove the trans, you need to brace the motor properly or it will literally tip to the front...

Re: belt changing
The transmission holds the engine at a slightly downward angle. That is to say, the line that would represent the crankshaft of the engine it not parallel to the ground, the nose of the crankshaft is higher above ground level than the rear. The engine will sit flat without the transmission and the pitch stopping mont to hold it in this "slanted" position. Be careful that the radiator is not damaged by the engine unit hitting it if you get rough when installing the trans.
