Angry Accident story :-(

Holidays I will remember :-(
As the weather changed from bad to terrific, I decided to go somewhere where only Subaru can make it :-)
Mountain, snow-covered road… just unique, eye-catching views. I’ve made few miles uphill with no problems at all! When coming down the same forest road (30% downhill) when passing a 180 degrees turn, I saw a Mercedes moving across the road (driver lost control after 50 meters of climb). The only thing I could do, to save my baby, is to take a right roadside ditch... unfortunately a Mercedes driver also fell on the same idea… just I was there first and his front bumper destroyed entire side of my car :-(
Right now I’m waiting for insurance expert to evaluate the damage.

Two things I’ve learned. One is that whatever You do – You can’t change physics laws and stop the car in ice road just like that, and the other thing is – if the road is to slippery – even to walk… take a Subaru :-)

I'm very sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope your SVX is OK and can be fixed for reasonable money.

You could stop if you had studded tyres, but they are not legal everywhere. Even though the SVX is exceptional in its ability to travel in bad weather, ice and snow, I would be reluctant to take mine up the icy mountains unless I had chains on the front or studs on all four.

Going up is the easy bit. Coming down is where the Laws of Physics turn and bite you.

Re: Accident story :-(

That's right... as well as chains on all wheels could stop the car, just... You can't be always prepared to stop the car immadetly and sometimes You have to go where You shouldn't go without preparation... that's life...

The good thing is - I had enough traction to steer the car (tighter turn!) into the ditch so I prefer to think I was just at a wrong place at a wrong time then asking for it

I believe it can be restored to it's previous shape within few weeks. The thing that bothers me more is the parts availability here. We'll see... I'll keep fingers crossed

I have his statement with his agreement that this was his fault so it should go easy. Hope the insurance company will evaluate the damage right.
I'll be there on 2nd of January to check the car.

The car looks tittle bit better on pictures then it's really is but still - it's good thing I was able to change my path. Hiting him with front of my car would hurt so much more

Thank You all for your support! Hopefully next time I'll bring some good news
Meanwhile have a Happy New Year and take care of your SVX's!

That's not a stock factory side marker. The originals look like this:

Hmmm... looks like You're right. Just... my fender looks to have a shape that matches this side marker - that's strange

I've seen SVX's without side marker / repeater and with tho one You've attached to your post but none of them has the one that looks like mine. Hmmm... fender looks lika a stock one... maybe someone has '96 LSi US-spec to compare?

Anyway thanks for the advice - I'll post some more photos when I start the bodywork so you can compare other parts... hmmm... I know that it has some paint job done on this side but it looks that it was just to refresh paint after scraches...
