racing steering wheel 320mm

bought and put on a steering wheel for my claret since the air bag was blown. It was pretty simple and i still have cruise!!! here is some pics. I used a hub kit that was for a Celica and had to grind the hub down a little bit on the outside of the splines (not the splines of course tho.) but tell me what you think!

Neat, but it needs more NOS buttons or something, or at least a horn.
I couldn't live with a hornless wheel.

I thought it was the eject button.

Or the sun.

Or both.

It's hard to see exactly what is in the middle of that wheel. None of the racing wheels I've ever touched had anything but a plastic logo in the middle

Re: racing steering wheel 320mm

ok well to clear this up the button in the middle is a horn button and if you look close you can see i still have cruise but i assume you hate race wheels and that ok ,but i can tell that i can turn faster seeing as my hands and arms dont move so far in the steering motion. but hate all u want i just would rather have somthing that looked semi nice then a popped air bag wheel.

I'm not hating, grumpy, I think the stock wheel looks like a leather balloon made for people with banana hands and hard heads (despite my love for the sweet dual horn buttons. only reason I haven't deep-sixed it yet). I like how your thread trim matches the gauge cluster.

'Course I'd never put that wheel in MY car

as I much prefer a joystick. If I can't have a yoke I'm not gonna change it at all.

Re: racing steering wheel 320mm

I like it! Think you could post up the supplier/part numbers for the wheel and hub adapter?

Ditto, although it doesn't look like the kind we would need with a nice quick release so we can climb in through the door.

Re: racing steering wheel 320mm

Not a big fan myself. Going to a steering wheel with a small hub like that just does a really good job of showing the big, plastic steering column behind it. Looks wierd.

Re: racing steering wheel 320mm

I wouldn't mind it if my SVX was ONLY a track car, or an Autocross car... But even then I'd want to do something about our crappy steering rack first!! What is it like 20:1 or something??? The steering rack is what makes the car terrible to Autocross IMHO...

Re: racing steering wheel 320mm

well like i said it was a idea to get rid of the popped air bag wheel but it does turn faster. this was just an experiment so ebay is where i bought it from. i had a quick release to but it was junk and then you cant have cruise. if u have a non removable hub you can have cruise. heres the link but i would recomend one without a quick release.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBAR...=p4506.c0.m245 then you can get any 6 bolt wheel i got one for a celica cause it came with both and mine had a little fitment issue but anyone with a bench grinder could make it fit

Re: racing steering wheel 320mm

Our stock steering wheels are about 15.5", and 320mm is about 12.6".
I love the weighted feel of the stock wheel, but yours does not look bad at all, imho.

its actually a little bit more fun to drive now. I know just a steering wheel does barely anything but if you think about it your hands move far less turning with the 320mm verses the oem wheel you can honestly feel the road better imo
