Understood Bob, I can agree that the same thing gets old after a while If I am able to take what you can teach us and be able to apply it, it would be a wonderful thing.

This has the makings of the undergrads and grad students whose job it was to follow Einstein around the halls of Princeton and write down whatever he said

However I have no issues with someone else...oh say, maybe someone in NJ who is in the SVX business, applying what I'm learning to his own business plan, and making money from it. Welcome to the USA.

If I wanted to keep it 'secret', I'd never have posted about it to begin with. So IMO, all you guys are more than welcome to whatever knowledge can be extracted from my experiments.
How about this Bob... You collaborate with Tom on getting to the point to beable to replicate what you do to your test engines. Tom is (from what I've heard) a great SVX mechanic and I'd trust him to build me an engine off of directions given by you. That is if I just can't be bothered to do it myself ... If I have a garage, lift, jacks and all the tools I'll need then in about 2 years I'll be doing this myself... If not then I'll be paying someone else to do it... And while they do that, I'll be swapping in a 6MT to handle the power ...

What I'm saying Bob is that if you don't wan to make a business outta doing these NA engines, maybe Tom would want to work with you and make it easier on you... Like he said, you are doing things with the engine that I was dreaming about 5 years ago, but had no idea of how to get there... Now I see that it might actually be a reality

That'd be a horrible name, because then all of tom's creations would go from TomStock to TomBobStock... Try saying that fast 3 times!

Re: Phase 2: Looking for 380 N/A whp.

It's a dormant project. Money is tight, the economy has hurt my friend's business, so there's no way he can dump +$10k into an engine project right now. And I certainly can't afford to bankroll this project myself. However the entire engine, cooling system, induction system, drysump, etc...is already figured out and 'built' inside my head. Just need cash to proceed.

Do you have any pics of the air intake on your impreza? Did shortening the intake provide good gains?

Re: Phase 2: Looking for 380 N/A whp.

Nevermind, I found your flikr! So, what type of power gains do you feel were gained from the shortened intake with cold/forced induction. I am considering a setup within a housing mounted on top of the hood of my svx. I happen to have an extra hood lying around to play with (whole extra car actually). Figuring out where the maf will go is obviously my biggest problem, but I have a few ideas.

I plan on at least cleaning my donor cars intake manifold and maybe doing sone home brew port/polishing to go alobg with the intake. I currently have the stock intake until the filter box, inside the fender I have an extended intake tube sticking through the bottom thin pkastic part of the fender for cold/forced air. I have a tendnecy to pick up a ton or dirt and rocks down there though and once caught it on a puppy (which was somehow just fine!) Going 30mph to have it jack up the bottom of the fender (again, very thin plastic). Anyways, I always liked a good hood scoop, worth it in your opinion?
