Yeah, I just got tied into the Cooper financially though. I picked it up from the dealer today and they tried to pass off the air leak as normal wind noise for frameless windows. I persisted until they put an appointment request in for the regional engineer who comes out to examine persistent problems and such. Ill elaborate more later. Lets just say, Im ready for it to be gone already.

Has to be one problem occuring at least 3 times within a certain period. My dad lemoned his dodge truck and got a decent check for it.

Not too late... just get a nice Baja turbo (Baja is taken out from Subaru site along with Outback sedans and Legacy wagons), not many left at the dealer lots anymore (atleast its like that here, I saw only a few, one turbo and 2 normal at the dealer last weekend)... better make it fast.... a Baja turbo is really a gr8 one to drive and even for looks. The finish looks gr8 on Baja turbo both exterior and interior. Gud luck with ur next one.

Thanks everyone. I have indeed decided to sell the Mini regardless, as I my experience thus far has soured any love I had for the car. If the engineer from BMW thats coming in this week doesnt recognize the air leaks as problems with the Mini, it will be on ebay almost immediately.

Mike,
I learned a leson from a gentleman in 1990.
He was a guy from the city (flatlands) who wanted to buy a 4wd/AWD car as he had just moved to the mountains to retire.
He wanted to just buy the basics without a mountain test drive.
I tried to tell him the benefits of a (130 hp 4 speed) Legacy over a
Loyale (82 hp 3 speed) but he did not want to hear it.
So he bought the Loyale.
One week later he came back in to trade in the slow/sluggish Loyale for the nicer, more powerful Legacy.
A week earlier the differance would have been about $3000.00, now, since his trade was used, it was costing $5000.00.
He did'nt blink an eye.

Now the lesson.

He told me he would rather pay the extra money and be happy with his car, than keep sending out payments on something he hated!
I could then understand and have respected him ever since.
Tom

Im trying to weigh in my options. Figure I should probably part with the car either by them taking it back or the sale of it on ebay.

Either way, I shouldn't do too bad.

Now, I could take the money that Id be getting back over what is owed (3-4k) and either

a) Finish my SVX, drive it daily, and risk yanno... things.... in the city....

b) Put down that money on a newer Subaru to drive daily

c) Do some more research into the Saabaru 9-2x as they are pretty cheap... and not quite an Impreza .

I would have to rely on whichever is my daily driver for a sizeable commute, traffic, stop and go driving, many close calls, etc, so Im trying to think out what my next move should be after parting ways with Mini.

Any ideas?

Buy a cheap beater car to run into the ground. No payments.

Looking more and more that way. This last Legacy was probably the worst Subaru I ever owned.. hands down, so Im being cautious about what to do next.

At a car auction, I got a 94 Chevy Baretta for about $600 to run around in while the SVX was out of service. It passed MD inspection and is a great car (needs a paint job). Now I'm selling it to my friend who just wants a beater car.

No payments...and I had enough money to get extra things for the SVX.

I looked around at some high mileage beat up Subarus, but many were out of my price range.
