Important question !!! Please help !!!!
Hi guys,
I just noticed a buzzing sound when my car (SVX '92) is turned off. It seems to be coming from the ABS box area. I unscrewed the cover but didn't see anything strange. I searched and symptoms look like it would be a bad relay ?? Should I unscrew one of my battery poles ?? I don't want to kill my battery, I need my car tomorrow ! please help !! thanks |

If it was me I'd put everything back together and take care of it this weekend as long as everything works. A battery charger works well and they are cheap.

everything is back together..I just removed the cover.
I just want to stop this sound and fix this the soonest possible..I need my car tomorrow, no time to deal with it later.. could this be just a fuse ? I guess with a fuse it would just be off since current doesn't go through ?? |

it looks like it comes from the ABS area yes, but I can feel the buzz on the box and other parts, it's kinda hard to tell..I gave a couple of knocks with my wrench and it didn't seem to do nothing.
I unplugged one of the battery's poles |

Pull out the relay to see if the sound goes away. If it does, replace it with a new one. I believe I had the same issue when I first bought my car.

**UPDATE**
Since I don'T know crap about mechanics, I just removed one of the poles of my battery. Well I'll be damned, this morning I was about to bring it over to my bro who works in a garage...I plugged the pole back, no sound. Problem solved. ALSO, I had a problem with my remote unlock/lock system. The beeping sound was gone and I had to press the button twice with a few seconds between each press, otherwise it wouldn't unlock..now that'S solved too..could it have reset the alarm system and solved it too ? so weird...when we say that a good night of sleep solves problems, it sure did it for me |

It sounds a lot like the software in your car was designed by Microsoft.

I always thought problems in a car happen or don't at all usually...no in between
is it possible that it was just a bug in the car'S computer ? it'S not as complicated imo.. anyway, I'm glad |

Don't be fooled - the problem isn't solved. The relay will do this sporadically and can leave you stuck with a dead battery. Do yourself a favor and change it.

I guess it's still pretty hard to tell which one is faulty if it doesn't happen when I'm at the garage ? Unless there's only one in the abs area, is there anyway to test it eventhough it doesn't stick ? thanks mucho |

you can bench test relays and find out an idea of their internal condition
