A/C Issues

I had my a/c retrofitted a while back and it doesn't work anymore, it never really did even when it was first retrofitted. I am going to try and troubleshoot it myself and fix it, but is it possible to use the FSM's regarding the a/c system with an a/c system that is retrofitted with the R134 stuff? I have a 92 svx.

If it hasn't really worked properly since the changeover, I'd take it back to the shop that did the work and see if they're willing to make it right.

I would love to do that but its been over two years! It never really worked, but at the time i was busy moving to virginia (from ny) and never had the time to let them have the car for a week or two since it was my primary vehicle.

Does the compresser ever turn?

How complete was the retrofit?

To be honest i am not really even sure how "complete the retrofit was, it only cost $400 and by the looks of reading other threads a well retrofitted system involves a bit more than i think they did. The compressor turns sporadically...

I'm betting you are losing the R134 from the system. I found and changed 13 o-rings when I did my retrofit.

Ok so i am reading the FSM and there is apparently a self diagnostic for the A/C system, does anyone have familiarity with this? I kinda follow it, but just wanted to see if anyone had experience with it.

Yet another question, if I have a supposedly retrofitted a/c system with the R134a refrigerant, do I now buy a R134a A/C manifold gauge set? Or do I get the R12 or a dual set up? I've decided i'll just tackle this on my own with hopefully some help from yall!

You would buy the R134A manifold gauge set.
R134A has/uses different fittings, as well as refrigerant.
How much is that set costing you?

Earthworm, did you get OEM O-rings? If so do you have the part number? I checked out subaruparts.com and their a/c section wasn't complete

No I did not. I got a generic retrofit set of green (r134) o-rings. It had all but 1 o-ring I needed.
