1992 subaru svx
120k miles
13k miles on rebuilt tranny

Ok subaru enthusiasts, I finally have to let my svx go.
1 of only 12,000 imported to the US
Luxury sportscar thats a dream to drive.

This car does have a few problems, which is why im letting it go.
She's leaking oil, like all SVXs.. no big prob, just change the seals and you're golden!
Alternator needs to be replaced or reworked, a $50 fix if you know what you're doin.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

New job forces me to let her go, I'm actually weeping right now thinking about it.
Now, is alternator and seals are cheap fixes just like seller says or he just wanna get rid of it?

The Alternator will be more than the $50 he quoted....but seals aren't to expensive...if you do your own labor

I wouldn't say that any of the oil seals are easy 1/2 hr jobs. The valve cover gaskets probably take about 4 hrs and a number of other pieces need to be removed to gain access to the valve covers. If the front engine seals are leaking that's another 4+ hr (more like 10+ hr) job that takes some special tools. A leaky PS pump requires either rebuilding the pump or installing a new one that is very expensive. I forgot though, if the PS pump reservior is leaking, that one is actually easy to fix. Only about a 1/2 hr job.

Replacing the alternator is pretty easy.

I would agree with those estimates.

If the PS reservoir is leaking it probably just needs a new $1 o-ring, and a it's relatively easy replacement. Same with an alternator (but used ones will probably be $50-60 and rebuilt ones over $100.

Luckily for you daddy, you live in NY just a few hours away from one of the best mechanics on the network - TomsSVX! His rates are reasonable and his work is second to none!
