except the speed limit? Lol, I dunno, mabey I WAS speeding. Speed limit where I was pulled over is 30. Once I was clocked 35 by police radar on my bike =) good stuff. I really dont break laws riding a bike..I mean, really, bike verses car in an accident, the cars gonna win (Unless its a ford escort) So I ride pretty safe. lol, funny story none the less

Dumbest ticket:

Harmon road. 2 lanes, but wide enough for 6. Speedlimit 25 but could easily do 50mph safely. Received 3 tickets on that road over a 5 year period for doing 34 in 25mph zone.

The tickets have come to a halt. They built a police substation on the road, and immediately changed the school zone from set hours to a 15 minute "flashing light", and increased the speed limit on Harmon to 35mph. The police now scream down the road at 50mph. But still.... you can do 50 on this road safely. It's big.

Dumbest ticket (committed): Passed a Vermont state trooper sitting on the opposite shoulder of the road one night, saw him light 'em up, said to my daughter, "Oh, look... he's going on a call." Took half a mile to realize he was after me, which really soured the guy's disposition. Most costly ticket I've ever paid, that.

Dumbest ticket (observed): Daylight, same road in Vermont; dude in a Mercedes with New York plates (and road attitude to match) roars past me and hangs a hard left INSIDE a left-turning slowpoke we'd been following, not having noticed the Vermont trooper right behind him. I waved as I passed.

Dumbest written warning: A Georgia state trooper pulled me over one Thanksgiving morning, with a local news camera and reporter in the car, recording footage for the evening's typical story on holiday traffic. I was driving a '68 Mustang that was a very distinctive color, so anybody who knew me KNEW that was me on the news, even tho' they never showed my license plate or my face. They used that clip as file footage for so long I should have gotten royalties.

Stupidest ticket = 103 in a 35mph zone (accually I was entering a 50 and simply didnt let off at 50)

Stupid for doing it, not for getting the ticket. That was my young and dumb days. 17 years old, and the only time I ever cut school.

Oh, that's a catagory that will have carpel tunnel written all over it! I'm not as bad as I used to be. We all mellow with age. I mostly did red lights and speed. I was never a big stop sign guy. Plate covers and nozzle lights used to be a pet peeve. I recently was promoted so I have less time to "poach" red lights.

ooh, ooh, I got another one.
Me, my sister, my cousin and his girlfriend are in my car. Mind you, they are all stoned out of their minds because thats just what they do, and my cousin had an open beer in his hand (I didnt see him bring it into the car)
Apperently I was doing 62 in a 45. ouch! the police officer got to the funky window and asked for licence and that good stuff... my sister, wearing a full faced helmet, says to the officer:
"Dave?" "DAVE!"
"um...yeah?...who are you?"
"Its Mel"
"Ooh..Crap, what are you doing here...Bah, get outta here!"

I was like......"What the heck just happened?"
Apperently my sister, who works midnight shifts at a convience store, makes him coffe every night.

Someone remind me not to be stupid

Some of the cops in this area are really oblivious or assholes. Seriously! I was in Tampa Florida one time and the local news station did a report on Frederick County cops and how bad they were. Anyway, I have not been issued a ticket...yet *knocks on wood* I was given a warning in my crappy Suzuki for doing 50 in a 35.

But a couple years ago I remember riding with my mother in our old Dodge van on a 2 lane highway and the wind was blowing the van around a little. She was doing about 50 in a 55 and was driving in the right lane because of the wind. A cop pulls us over because she was swerving a little. She mentioned to the officer that it was windy and that the van gets caught by the wind because it's so big. He still gave her a ticket but wrote the ticket as: failed to stay right of center. Failing to stay right of center would be failing to stay right of the yellow line. She took it to court and got off because if she "failed to stay right of center" she would have been driving in the grassy median.

A couple days ago I was about to pull on to that same highway and while I was waiting for a break in traffic I noticed a cop siting not far away. I watched as a very impatient person in an Outback pass another car using the left hand shoulder. The cop never did anything. He must have been asleep or something.

I got pulled over in my "slightly modified" 1978 Buick Regal when I was a teenager. SO as it goes I was doing 142mph in a 65, although the speedo stops at 85 I got pulled over an the trooper came up and had a confused look on his face like this tank is doing 142mph. He's starts righting the ticket up and asks me what I have under the hood, I say 350 V8 nothing special about 1500 invested into it but I do have a 2.29 gear in the rearend. We spend the next 15-20 mins. chatting about cars because turns out hes a weekend drag racer. It brings my ticket down to a 85 in a 65 and he tells me to put a rev limiter on my car and Im like "YES SIR!!"

Dumbest ticket never recieved..
I used to be the (other) guy that worked on British cars during the 70's, with the other one being a snob! and we had a stable of Austin Healeys that used to cause quite a stirrrrr in the hood. If there was a turn to be tested, I was your man! One nite, in a local park, I was in a 1960 'bugeye', with brand new J.C.Whitney pistons that needed tested...There was this great big oak tree that the road split to accomadate, and it was too tempting for li'l ol me!
I had to circle the tree a few times to 'test the handeling of said bugeye, and as the test concluded, a very large, very upset park ranger was blocking my 'egess' !!
Since I was on a 1 way street, he took the time to inform me of how many laws my little 'test' had broken, and that, If I left the park "quietly" and never repeated this 720 degree turn again, he would forgive my ( He liked the car).
Then there was the nite when I was setting at a stop sign in a 72 Olds Cutlass, with a 455, 'TWEEKED' a "TWEEKED" 425 turbo-hydro and 3:23 posi gears.and one foot on the brake , and one on the gas.I had just reached the 'power band., and was ready to "drop the hammer". I noticed the new reflective qualities of the latest SHERIFF's logo. and removed foot from throttle. I proceeded out onto the highway like a 'normal' person. When I was about 1/4 mile out, the red and blue came on. I had to explain to the officer that my fan belt was loose, and it really made a lot of noise till it warmed up. He didn't buy it, but he let me off anyway! ( Poly-glass tires don't smoke) That's most likely the only reason he didn't SLAM ME!!!
