Unhappy No More Power Mode

My latest test confirmed my fears that for a couple of weeks my power mode has vanished, or little green led lighted power icon has now faded from the rest of my dash.

It also have some suspitions that this is also not mechanically working because even though I felt some acceleration, I didn't feel that usual 25-40mph jolt or even as much of an overal jolt I use to get when when the "Power Mode" light turned on. It also could be me being a bit paranoid.

I know there have been some past posts on this subject but I just feel like I want to bring it up a new, so there are less pages to shuffle through and there may even be some new findings.

So do you think it is a TCU or mechanical problem?

Does the light come on at all? when you start it ?
The TCU gets the message from the throttle sensor, when its 'rate of change' exceeds a set value, and just uses a different set of look-up tables, for shifting. Can't see what could go wrong, maybe,,,,,,don't know.

The Power light does come on when I start the engine.

It just seems strange to me that it I just confirmed it didn't work when I floored it tonight, which I do not do too often anway.

Do you think it is stil working, does my ECU/TCU need to be flashed or do you think it can actually be a transmission problem?

Does it flash? Or does it go on then off. If it flashes, you may have a TCU issue.

No it woun't be in the transmission, it just does what the TCU tells it to do.
You could compare the change points, that it uses with and without the Power mode. Don't know what they are exactly, but if you floor it at about 30mph it 4th, it should go back to 1st or 2nd, if it only goes back to 3rd, it is probable not working.

If it isn't working it must be lacking the signal from the throttle sensor/to TCU connection.

It goes on and off without flashing.

So for a heads up, how many more times do I might have to turn on and off the engine in order to troubleshoot this?

Have you done the "lift off before flooring" method yet?
