93 AE exterior - Keep it stock or Modify?
Hi All,
Now that I have my 93 AE home, I'm contimplating the following: 1) I will need a set of tires, a friend of mine suggested going to 245s on the back to give it a meaner look from behind. Can I put 245s onf the back and 235s on the front? He also suggested "z" rated with a low profile. I'm thinking that while I'm at it, maybe I should go to some new rims, nothing chrome, just bright silver, something with a newer more modern look. 2) I'll want to do something about the headlights and grill, I'm thinking about trying one of the clear lens kits for the headlights and corner lights and seeing as I'm probably going to paint next spring, I was also thinking about putting in one of the new/updated grilles. The question for everyone is; with a 93 AE that has a mint interior, should I be updating/upgrading or, should I be replacing with original parts to maintain it's original look as much as possible? Let me know what you all think.

What color is your other SVX? If it's also red you'd probably feel better about changing the color. It's a big project as the red paint is in the trunk, on the firewall, etc... I'd keep the tires the same size, P225/50-16, on both axels. If you go to 17's use P225/45-17. Changing the grill to a 97 makes it look alot better. Does the 93 have the mouse track seatbelts or regular manual ones? Good luck.

I want to keep it red, even though my 92 is also red. Its one of the few things that distinguishes a 93 AE. Besides, I really like the Red / Beige combo.
I agree that a new grill will make it look a lot better, I'm just torn between making it as nice as I can or sticking to the original design and restoring it to "factory" condition. I'm willing to buy new OEM headlights etc. if I go that direction. I know that if I had a 69 Mustang GT, I wouldn't dream of changing anything. BTW - the 93 has the auto seatbelts.

One lonely vote for pure stock here, ESPECIALLY since it's a '93.

One more vote for 93=Stock and 92=Whatever you wanna do
As for the 245's in rear and 235's in front, keep them all the same size.

It's looking like "keep it stock" is a concensus.

Yea, I'm really leaning towards stock. When I was watching the video tape that came with the car I was thinking hey, that's the way it was designed and that's the way it should be. Like I said, you never see a Shelby Mustang or a early Corvette modified, who am I to mess with the design.
Dza here in Regina has offered to show me how to redo the headlight lenses, we'll give that a try and if need be, replace them. And, someday I'll find just the right paint to match the wheel hubs to the wheels. Do we have any votes agains keeping it stock?

If you have the cash.............
..........you could always mod the car and purchase the correct OE parts. Make sure that you keep all original parts and nothing is too much of a modification. That way you could change back to stock if you so desire.
I love the SVX, but I highly doubt that it will ever become a true collectible. I say make the car into whatever makes you the happiest. If you have the money, leave the option open to revert back. I would buy the parts now as they may not be around in a few years.
