All I can say is wow! That looks great! If I ever need a new tranny, your conversion is the way I'll go! I don't have the expertise to do it myself so it's great that you are offering to do them. Nice job!

I like the front end of the silver on the picture.

Looks damn nice. Infact, nicer than the 97 grill I have. How are you thinking of doing that?

Lwin,
I assume you're talking about the front shot without the "light bar" in the middle. My plan is to just replace it with a metal or plastic grille.

Keep me posted on the grill Brian. Also how are you thinking of doing the clear lights on the SVX. I always wanted clear lights on the SVX and I think they would look great on one.

Lwin,
Well, it's one of those projects that looked simple or at least straightforward but I now have completed one fiberglass mold to shape the acrylic for one side and will need one for the other. I discovered you can't make even soft plastic bend in two directions at once without a mold. Maybe I'm just picky but I couldn't see going to the trouble unless I could make lenses that follow the original shape. I'll need to refocus the high beam and fog light so the beam will spread properly. Turns out the fluting in the stock lens really does something!

That looks awesome. I wish I lived closer to you. I wonder how much it would be to ship a car to WA and back?

"dream mode"
If I was full of excess money, I'd buy svx's with blown trannys, drop in the 5 spds, and sell 'em for a tidy profit.

Thumbs up Clear Lights & site

Hey Brian

Nice work on your site'a section for the SVX! I do my own site work so I know how much effort it takes to get it made.

I too am interested in the clear light project. Will that mod be independent of the grill? I am actually going to light the center "mock light" with LED's or fiber optics, depends on which is easier to fabricate. So I'd like to hang on to mine.

Keep us posted.

Jerry

Brian Steele,

First, thank you. Next, when you get all done with the 5-speed kit, will you license an east coast shop like Level 10, and a mid America shop to sell and install it.

Thanks again.

I will eventually have a kit to sell and I would like to work with shops that can do a good job on the installations. I'm working towards that on our Vanagon conversions as VW has discontinued selling engines for the Van and customers have been coming from 7 states for the 4 and 6 cylinder conversions.

I think I'm gonna cry.

After viewing your web site I am so stoked.

Mind you - I don't stoke easily. Money is hard to come by, and even harder to spend. I want the 5-speed. I want the headlights. I want it all!

What this means, is that I'll have to invest in a new car for the wife - and soon - so that the SVX can get better cared-for.

Thanks for your vision - and your enthusiasm!
