This is the home page for all that. Interesting and quite humbling.

That That that That is just totally nuts. That guy is alive with just a few scratches. There is no room for his head in the wreck. The car is completely gone from the doors up. The trucks are sitting bumper to bumper. Maybe when he got hit from the back the seat fell backwards or something.

I agree with what he says. Not his time yet.

No broken bones? Wow.

This is why I HATE big rigs or any large truck for that matter. I should know I've had a truck on top of me too, it totaled my previous SVX.

That guy was lucky.

Lucky guy. What I'd like to know is whether he ducked or leaned to the side. The structure underneath the window sill, the stuff usually involved in a collision, is mostly intact. I doubt there was very much intrusion into the footwell at all.

I don't think that the fact the car is a Subaru has much, if anything, to do with it. He could have been driving probably anything of similar weight and size with similar results.

An SVX involved in the same accident would be interesting. Being as low as it is, it probably would have been shoved entirely underneath the trailer in front.

Hey gang -

I'm the dude from the wrx wreck (bongmonster / alan). The accident and the time since has been one heck of a ride!

I was actually sitting upright during the crash, I turned my upper body "to the left" as I was being pushed underneath the trailer infront of me.

Most of the damage in the pictures/video is a result to the accident itself, the rescue crew used the jaws of life to extract me (they cut the driver side aframe and cut off the driverside door). Everything happened at just the right time and just the right way for me to be alive (ie another inch ether way and I would have been a goner).

My story has gained a huge following, I think it's a good story of survival and I hope it's made a positive impact on atleast one persons life (other than me). The thread on NASIOC is long, but worth the read. It almost tells a day-day story of what happened after the wreck, etc.

I really appreciate all thje well wishes and positive response that I've gotten (nearly 5 million people have downloaded the news video. Thanx.

I ended up buying an 05 STI, I love it.

Accident safty is all relative, it has more to do with the type of accident, different types of autos fair differently depending on what is hit, but before I got my SVX, and part of the reason I did, is the fact that it is comprable with BMW and Mercedes who have been the leaders in safty since the 60s, volvo is mostly the ad campaign.
