ESX's WRX Drag Car Uses SVX Auto

Yesterday at Lancaster County Motors we hosted ESX Motorsports and their 1000HP WRX drag car. When I asked one of the mechanics what type of tranny they used, he replied, one out of an SVX. My mouth nearly fell open. It's basically a stock tranny with cooler. The front diff was changed to a locking type and some of the pressures have been changed to provide better shifts i.e not the smooth shifting our SVX's are known for. But it's rebuilt every season "right", not a cheapy rebuild. But they say it's basically stock. I thought this piece of info was awesome!

Last time they were there they said it was just the SVX gears, nothing else. Wouldn've went but why support a dealer that charges 30% over subaru's retail price for parts.

Yep, the SVX tranny is plenty strong. Just suffers from lack of adequate cooling when driven hard.

For this season it is running with stock clutch packs. Next season they are building a new car, still with an SVX trans, but modified clutch packs. The current car will be for show.

BTW they are looking for a female driver to replace Ali Asfar next year. I wore my best weekend skirt, heels and makeup, , but they want a REAL woman.
