Pitchfork Mishap

So, yesterday I get up and go to work knowing that this day will be the last day I spend on this particular roof. I'm totally elated. This roof is a monster, steep and slick once the shingles are removed. Anywho, a fellow co worker left a tear-off pitchfork on the edge of the roof. All is going well and my crew and I are making great progress.

I ease the ladder into position and grab the said pitchfork and begin to remove the old shingles. I decide that I'm getting no where fast and decide to climb down the ladder to get into a better position to make progress quicker. As I pull the ladder away, I bump the pitchfork and it falls. With next to no time to react, the pitchfork falls and stabs me in the thigh. Immediately I let go of the ladder to pull the know stuck pitchfork out of my leg.

I am the kind of person who uses every expletive deletive in the book when he gets hurt. Thank God that little kids weren't around for that.

Anyway, I'm doing fine and have a hole about the size of a quarter in my thigh, no hospital for me. Hospital's are for pansy's. This injury sure makes getting in and out of the SVX a task in itself. Just had to share. It could have been a lot worse.

Keith

Ouch Keith! Glad you're ok. Hope the injury doesn't put you out of commission for too long...

Glad to hear it wasn't worse, but you really should go in for a tetnis shot. Also watch for infection, and if it seems to be getting worse, go in to see the doc.

Expletives are certainly forgivable in a situation like that.

Agreed. You should see a doctor/ nurse practitioner ASAP. If you haven't had a tetnis shot in a while, you'll need another one!

Take care of yourself bud...

Update, I woke up last night with a throbbing pain. My Grandma is a nurse so things were OK yesterday and I had my last Tetanis shot in 2002, so that's ok.

I went to see a doc shortly after I woke up last night, and it turns out that I have Gangreen. They said that they will have to amputate my left leg. Just kidding.

Everything is fine and it actually feels better this morning. As for you Tancred, once the Reno meet arrives on the calender, the first moment I meet you in person, I'm gonna kick you in the mansack. LMAO

playing Doctor

About 5 years ago I sliced my left shin open about 3" long and 2.5" deep in a 3 wheeler wreck. No big deal as I am a "home medic" with an Armagedon supply of betedine, butterflys, bandages, and peroxide. All is well for about 1 month, when I bend under my desk at work and SOMETHING smells like dirty socks! It's my leg, hot to the touch, with an infection(not gangrene, but close) that takes my REAL Doctor 3 more months to get rid of! So, the lesson is, go to the Doctor, then go again just in case. Tom

reminds me of a funny story.....

my brother was climbing a gate to the poolhouse after hours in the housing plan my parents used to live in, and skewered his leg on top of it. took a McNugget-sized chunk from his calf off. he spackled in the hole in his leg with Neosporin, and there really isn't even a scar anymore. the funny part is, he showed me where it happened a few months later, and there was still a shriveled up piece of his leg stuck on top of the gate post!
