engine bay and underbody pictures
O.K., hello everybody. Very much a noob here but I was wondering if you could help me out.
Does anyone have fairly detailed broad view pictures of the engine bay and full size pictures of the underbody of the SVX? I have an idea for a turbo that I am going to run past some guys that build kits with a pretty unique location for the turbo. www.ststurbo.com I had a '92 SVX when I graduated college and it was quite frankly the best car I've ever owned. So I've been wanting to get back into one ever since. However, the power just isn't there for me. Maybe this is the solution I am looking for, if they think they can do it. |

Turbo muffler
I was thinking about this too. My "F-Body" friend pointed it out to me.
The numbers look pretty good, but I have to question the Toyota concept truck. That is WAY WAY too low to mount a turbo let alone an air intake on a truck that runs in the woods. I think they picked THE DUSTIEST place to mount an intake filter! I don't think a turbo would survice 1 year under a truck like that. For the SVX, Routing that big fat intake pipe back up to the front is going to be tough. You already have the driveshaft crammed up above the tailpipe. And I want the air filter somewhere remote too. Under the car won't work for me. Mine sees snow there. Remote turbo, none the less, might be the way to go on the SVX. |

Thanks for the pictures. I see the intake is towards the windshield of the car. I can't remember, are these a dual throttle body engine?
I'll tell you, the location of the filter and the turbo is a topic of some real hot debate over on LS1.com and LS1tech.com. STS claims they have had zero trouble with thier kits and they even have a 12 month, 12000 mile warranty. I was really going to get this for the Trans-am but it looks like I'm going to be looking for a new job real soon and I will need a year round sport coupe. It's going to be real hard going from a 332 rwhp car to a 195-200 whp car so I need to find a way to make constant good power (no Nitrous) I can tell you, on an LT-1 Trans-Am ('93 - '97 f-body) the car dropped a full 1.24 seconds (1/4 mile). That was at 5500 feet so the gain may not be as dramatic towards sea level. So I take the claim with a grain of salt. Still, the main thing for me is a turbo kit that keeps the car emissions legal and makes real good power. Not the fastest car on the street, but fast enough to keep a grin on my face. I put an e-mail into Rick at STS, so we'll see what they have to say.

if you want to put in remote turbos remove the abs and relocate the battery into the trunk and use those front corner pockets for space, it look feasable to me
