I didn't say the vehicle was a Jeep. I said "think" Jeep.
I didn't say this would be easy.

Ron (I love it when they squirm).

Sorry, both Chrises. It's bedtime for old farts.

Go to Google. Type "sleeve valve engine"

Read some facinating history. The Jeep link? Willys Overland.

G'night, Blokes.

Ron.

Four overhead cams!

The Ducati Desmodromic, uses 4 cams. 1 inlet opener,1 inlet closer, 1 exhaust opener, 1 exhaust closer.

Harvey.

Do you mean 4 cams above each cylinder??? I don't know what the engine in the Ducatti is like (assuming it's a bug V-twin or something...

No it's not a bug Chris, it's big

The two valve, uses one camshaft with the four cams on the one shaft. The four valve uses two shafts with the four cams on each shaft.

The 2003 model 999cc MOTOGP Duck turns 18,000 rpm makes about 220hp. Not too bad for the first year against the Japanese teams. There is a new model for 2004. Can't wait for the seasion to begin.

Harvey.

We are off the CamShaft issue now, we are on to weird engines.
multiple Camshafts is limitted. So the weird valve config is the new topic:

Turbine?

Turbines... Hmmm, well Iused to work Ordnance, not "Powerline" so I don't know quite as much about them as one of the Mech's would... (Then again, the Mech's wouldn't know jack $hit about any of the Bombs or Weapon Systems on the F-18)....

I know that there was a car made that is powered by gas Turbine... I know that there are Sub surface weapons in the Navy that are powered by Peroxide Turbines, the F-18 is powered by the GE F404-400... 13,800lbs thrust at 80% and 18,900lbs thrust at 100%(Afterburner)... When 2 of these things take off my windows in my room vibrates ( a mile a way!! ).....
