OT - Chrysler Crossfire

I recently saw a TV show on the Speed Network on the Chrysler Crossfire. It is built at Karmann in Germany. They took it around some sports car track by Las Vegas, then they took it to the Mohave desert. On the Autobahn in Germany the driver got it up to 150 mph and let go of the steering wheel to show how rock steady it was at speed. (Sound familiar?) It has 215 hp and weighs around 3000 lbs. (Sound familiar?) It seems to be a sports, luxury, GT car with 'love it' or 'hate it' styling. (Sound familiar?) They said it will sell in the USA for around $35000. (Sound familiar?) I hope Chrysler can seel them It will be in a market segment with a lot of competition and the Chrysler name does not have much cache'. (Sound familiar?) I have my doubts about it selling well. All it needs is AWD and it could be the 2004 sucessor to the SVX.

PS: I wonder how many Earl will have in about 10 years?

It does not look like that anymore. They changed it quite a bit from the original concept. I think it looks ok now,but seems to be underpowered by todays standards.

I think it's a fine looking car. The interior fits the exterior and kind of looks a little artdeco to me. As I understand it the styling was done by Chrysler but the engineering was done by Daimler. It should be a very solid car. It has changed for the better since the original concept version. Check out the official site before you write it off as undesirable. The styling is probably love it or hate it but so is the SVX. I happen to love it! When I win the lottery I might just run out and get one. I almost hope it flops like the SVX so I can land one in 10 years.

I like it a LOT. It also reminds me of the SVX, being extremely different and all. I wish I had one.

I read an article on it some time back in either Motor Trend or Car & Driver, not sure which. They said the car is basicly a Mercedes SLK, just a different body and interior, so it should have decent performance.

Personally, I like. If I had the money, I'd buy a WRX STi though.

i think its pretty ugly - they really could have made it into something nice, but apparently decided not to. for $35,000+, could they have put AT LEAST 250hp in it? geez, the average minivan nowadays could out-power this thing, which is SUPPOSED to be a luxury GT, as well as an attention-getter for Chrysler.

I think it looks ok, but kinda wish they stuck a little closer to the concept then they did. Biggest problem with it (other then price) is it seems underpowered......
