Actually, My SVX isn't all that slow....

I guess I just have a very fast Suburban. After reading all the post about G-Tech I went out and bought one. After 6 passes the G-tech averaged my SVX out and 0-60 7.6 seconds and 1/4 mile 15.6. Considering that the only modification I have done to it is a K&N Filter I'd say that's pretty good. These passes were also done with a full tank of gas in extra humid weather.

One problem though. The Horsepower #'s are way off. According to the G-tech, I'm only putting out 145 Hp. That's WAAY off from 230. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem or did I do something wrong. I put a weight in that included my actual body weight and the weight of the gas. 18 gallons x 5 lbs per gallon equals 90 rounded up to 100. My weight 280 (Yes, I gotta few pounds on the frame). Vehicle weight 3560 + 100 + 300 = 3960. Isn't that the way to do it?

Just curious, was that a brake launch or an idle launch?

The G-tech calculates HP at the wheels, not the engine. The engine is rated at 230 peak HP, when you drain it away with accessory belts, AWD, transmission, differentials, it doesn't sound that far off from what others have reported from 4-wheel dynometer tests.

Thanks, I thought I had a defective G-Tech. I didn't think the accessories drained that much but I guess it does. I was told wheel hp was about 10-20% less than engine. I guess it's true when they say don't believe everything you are told.

From idle. Made sure the street was as flat as I could find in Detroit and nailed it. In drive without manually shifting the trans. I try to "baby" this trans as I do not know it history. Neutral slam? Never!

That's true on a FWD or RWD vehicle... but on an AWD vehicle it sucks a lot more power.

I have a FWD and had a pro dino it. They also got 145 at the wheels. So your G-tech sounds like its workin to me.

Now that's a suprise! I did the horsepower test again today and it came back 142, 139, 147 and 145. That averages out to 143 and some change. What gives. Has anybody seen a dino in at least the 200 range (180-220)? 20% reduction would give it 180 or so.

Apparently you didn't read my post:

Look, Automatic transmissions suck more power than manuals. Manuals are more efficient, so thats one strike against the SVX right there.

SECONDLY, and more importantly, the SVX is AWD, which means that it has a LOT of parasitic loss through the drivetrain. AWD cars generally lose up to about 1/3 of their power through the drivetrain.
