Idle adjustment?

Is there an idle adjustment or do you just get whatever the computer gives you? Ever since my 5 spd swap, my idle has been sitting at 600 rpms. I would like to bump it up a little.

There is a set screw to adjust the closed position of the butterfly, but everyone says not to mess with it. Maybe there is a way to convince the ECU that the car is in drive so that it will bump up the idle a bit? Maybe that would bump it up too much?

I would check with Lwin first. He did some adjusting on that and would know what to do or not to do.

we also need to figure out how to make the car think it is in drive so that fuel cut does not come on at 6500 rmp. The car should rev to 7, but it thinks its in nuetral and seems to have a neurtal fuel cut off so you dont blow your engine I think it would require a toggle switch to be turned off for startup and then on once you get the car oon flip it over. I dont have the wiring know how or meterial, stehpen do you have the wiring diagrams??
phil
PS why would putting the car in drive change the idle? There is no BISS screw as far as i have found, but the throttle position sensor can be turned to adjust the idle, mine was sitting really high after the swap and still is. It is intermittent though, sometimes its around 800 sometimes 1350. Dosnt even make a difference if the air condition is on or off my car acts different everytime i start the car idle wise. Oh well, just another one of those things you get wit ha 180k car

The car is supposed to idle at about 600. Why would you want to change it? Are you stalling the car a lot at stoplights?

Yes, I have a few times. 600 seems a little low for a 5spd. My other one idled at 750-800 as did this one before the swap.

I don't think its a fuel cutoff that kicks in at 6500 rpm. That would be bad for the motor. I think the ecu selectively begins not firing certain cylinders. My car does this even in drive.

I think the ecu bumps the throttle position slightly when the car is put into drive to counter act the drag put on the motor by the TC.

I don't know if I have the necessary wiring diagrams or not. I will have to check when I get home. And the engine just seems to stop suddenly at 6500 rpm.

Hmmm. That's different behavior than my car. Even with the selective "misfiring", I've seen my motor pull all the way to 7200 rpm before the AT shifts. Maybe there is something going on with the car thinking its not in drive with the 5MTs. Does cruise control work on your car?

If I remember

I read somewhere that in "normal mode" the car will only go to about 6000rpm (don't remember the specificis) but if in power mode it will go all the way to redline. Then again that is with the AT so if you did a 5spd swap it might always be limited. If you haven't already, try disconnecting the resistor so that the car always "thinks" its in power mode. Might or might not do anything, sorry, I don't know much about transmissions besides the fact that they are expensive to rebuild. Normal idle range is between 600-800 (I think).

I don't know, I have never used it before or after the swap.
