Intake runner on the head
I have started tearing down the svx engine, I got a full gasket set from subaru for some 297 bucks, it even came with valve stem seals.
(Part Number:10105AA060) Any way I yanked the intake off and the runner in the head has a small bit of aluminum in there to separate the intake runner down to each intake valve. I am wondering if it would be worth the effort to grind most of this out, I will be porting out the head by hand with a dremel tool, just taking the roughness out of the runner and doing the same on the intake manifold as well as the exhaust port. Is there some sort of advantage to these intake valves being separated as they are? I will post up a picture of it after I get off work today. I will also stay about a half inch away from the valve seat I know it's an expensive job to have the seats re ground because i got to close with a dremel tool.

Re: Intake runner on the head
Do you mean this:
If so then no, don't grind that away. You want to keep the transition from the single manifold runner to the two valves as smooth as possible. If you make that thing blunt and stubby it'll just create lots of random turbulence.

Re: Intake runner on the head
yes that's exactly what I was talking about. I was wondering if it could be ground completely away so the only obstruction would be the valves themselves. The engine I am working with is still all dirty with carbon and some bull crap in it, but seeing the picture you posted, how clean it is I can see that there really is no way to grind that away to gain any sort of flow advantage.
Thanks for the help.
