How do you get the wheel sensor out? PLEASE!!

The underside of my car is so badly corroded and rusted, EVERYTHING seems to never want to come out. I've managed to get the entire wheel sensor assembly out, with the exception of the action sensor itself..... the part that goes through the back of the hub.

..... it is literally welded inside there or something.

I've already practically disassembled it from the inside out while prying at it.... and it won't budge.

I've literally bent the retaining clip on the back side all out of whack trying to pry it out of there.

I've literally stabbed three small flathead screwdrivers THROUGH the entire sensor assembly with a hammer.... it will not budge loose.

I removed the large retaining nut to pull off the wheelstud retainer/basket assemble..... but that won't come off either. It spins, but won't slide off.

WTF????? How do I get this thing out of here????

A socket with an OD slightly smaller than the ID of the hole. Or another blunt object. I have had them come out in about a million pieces... But as long as it is the one going in the trash it does not matter

mine came out much the same way, due to age ,salt, dirt, etc it was recommended, by subaru tech, to put antiseize on outer shell upon putting new one in to prevent this from happening to be as hard in future.

All I can say is hurray for penetrating oil. I sprayed mine several times over a few days before trying to remove it, and managed to get it out with only a little bending of the bracket.

Re: How do you get the wheel sensor out? PLEASE!!

Just curious...... How do you get the hub assembly off? I never did get it off, and I think I cross-threaded a wheel stud. No big deal.... but I remember taking the castle nut off, and the hub assembly wouldn't budge.

Is there a trick???

To get the hub out of the knuckle? It's pressed into the bearing inner races.

Have you tried dismounting the tone ring and trying to move it away from the studs that needs to be extracted? I forget whether or not you can do that on the front hub.

Yes you can Tom. I had my LF wheel studs changed by moving the tone ring.
