Re-Introduction *Updated Pics, Engine Pulled*

Hello SVX World! I've been here for a while but I was never really active, then I took a hiatus so I though I'd reintroduce myself and mention my new project!

From the beginning, my name is Jonathan. I picked up a 96 Bordeaux Pearl LSi in either 2005 or 06 and daily drove it and loved it, however it never had air conditioning which was never fun in the summer and eventually my rotors warped and I lost interest in the car. I picked up a new daily driver and she sat a long time until I fixed her up for my brother to drive while his car was broken, then she sat some more untill I finally sold it about a month ago.

I must miss it more than I thought, because I'm making a trip this weekend to pick up another SVX, a Laguna Blue 94. Was my favorite color till I saw Liquid Silver, now I'm torn lol.

I have huge plans for this car, but I'm going to take my time cause I want to do it right and because my girlfriend would kill me for wasting all my money on it =) First thing is first, when I get it the motor is being pulled and broke down and I'll be removing some things like the seat and steering wheel that I'll be replacing for lighter parts later (They'll be for sale soon if you need em haha). Then I have a long process of building my motor up for boost. After thats done I'll be looking for a good manual tranny, I'm not sure what to get here... If the like 04+ WRX trannys are better at not shattering gears than the 02s then I may look at that, just I don't want to pay 2000+ for a tranny. Then I guess I'll be giving Tom a call for a Hydra Nemesis and finally bolt on my turbo.

I'm going to need worlds of help on this so please bear with me through my stupid questions and help threads, and if you have any info that might could help please pass it along. For example, I just learned today that there are plenium spacers for our motors lol I added them to my "To Buy" list =)

Sorry, I can't think about anything I can do but I would bet that "Obama" can "CHANGE" the Laguna Blue into Liquid Silver for you!!

Good luck with your project,

Keith

Re: Re-Introduction

Shes officially in my drive way =)

1994 Laguna Blue LSi, formerly Liquid Force's car and before that Porters.

Since the motor isn't even bolted down I imagine it will be pulled soon and broke down.

Re: Re-Introduction

I chose not to buy it with the tranny, but it did come with all the other conversion parts like the tranny mount and pedals and shift linkage and things like that. Best case I would have got a WRX tranny for another 500 bucks, but from everything I've looked up it seems after adding any kind of power they go through gears like no bodies business... so I'm going to wait and weigh my options here. I think the car Rally Bob built is running one with RA gears, if they're good for drag I may go with them... I just don't want to spend 3000 bucks on a transmission.

I thought about twin turbo before but I couldn't figure out how it could be done with one MAF sensor, maybe with a blow through setup but I'm not sure I could do that correctly as I barely know what it is =)

Now with Tom's Hydra Nemesis it seems very possible, but I'm sticking with a single right now simply because I don't have the cash for it.

Two turbos sounds good for bragging rights.

In real life, a single twin scroll turbo is what you need, simpler to fit, will give you all the power you want.

But it needs to be twin scroll to give you low down pick-up along with top end power. With an ordinary turbo there will probably be a sacrifice somewhere, usually in slow spool-up.

If you are going to spend the bucks to do the job right, use the correct turbo.

Best of luck with it, the car looks really nice BTW.

Joe

Re: Re-Introduction

Pictures of my junkyard tail lights and from the engine pull.

Question for you guys going LEDs or whoever, is it overly difficult to take the tail lights apart and re seal them? I took some pictures to show that the seals on them are really bad in some areas and water is getting in them.

Next up was engine removal. I was told everything was unplugged and it was just sitting on the mounts so I expected this to be quick and easy, but of course it never is. It was still bolted in, all the power steering was still connected, and we didn't take the hood off so we had to kind of play to get it the right angle to get out.

Re: Re-Introduction

I remember this car, it was one of my "man, I wish you were closer to me" cars. I'm glad to see it is now in the hands of someone who is going to treat it right.
