Re: Low power and stalling

I have dealt with something of the like. Had a cam angle sensor that was weak and would intermittently give out and it would make the car buck at highway speed. Not sure this is your problem but sharing my experience

No code for that one. It was so faint that the ECU never pulled it up

Re: Low power and stalling

If youre convinced it's electrical, do the wiggle test while its idling on all wiring under the fuse box, at the pass rear where the coils connect, and at the battery. Also gently prod the wiring on any sensors, such as under the alternator and by the battery (Crank and Cam). If your idle lopes, races, or stalls out.... you found the location of the problem. Quick question though..... how are you so sure the MAF is good? Is it new?

Re: Low power and stalling

It is most probably not a maf problem, I got it in very good condition and tested. I am running with a cone filter installed by the previous owner.I don't have the airbox..I'm absolutely sure the car would run better with a box.
But the wiggle test is a logical idea.

I like beeing coherent

Re: Low power and stalling

Just to let you know that i have spent the last 10 days chasing all sorts of error codes with the car stalling and idleing really badly. Cleaned my MAF with cans of cleaning stuff and also did the re-soldering job. Still couldn't get the thing to work properly. Then found an old MAF sitting on a scrapped Lagacy in ScrapYard, bought it for £30, put it on without even cleaning it ( it looked like crap) and car fired up a treat. Have since given 'new' MAF a clean and I am purring like a kitten again. At one point, the codes were telling me I had both O2 sensors gone, every spark plug, air flow and throttle sensor. Not so, just the damn MAF. I'd find an old MAF somewhere and just try it.

A maf from a legacy? what year?
They work just fine or just as a temporary replacement?

1990-1994 have MAF's that fit our cars. You lose a little low end grunt, but the MAF works just fine.

It has to be the plastic one though. The metal MAF will throw a code (although the car will run fine).

A little low-end power. I've had the Legacy MAF on my car though and not noticed it at all so who knows...

Re: Low power and stalling

My buddy has a 92 legacy, I'll try it his maf on mine and see if it works. If it works better than it is right now with his maf on, I'll hate having wasted that much money.
