Intermettent wiper problem

My front wipers only have two intermittent modes. 2 seconds and 12 seconds. I just tried swapping the Front Wiper Control Module to no avail. This leads me to think it's the intermittent timing selector on the stalk that is to blame. I've got a WTB thread for one up too.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or have any ideas on how to fix it w/o replacing the whole stalk assembly?

Thanks,
Matthew

P.S. Getting to that intermittent module is just plain cruel. It's like the designers were trying to make life hard

Re: Intermettent wiper problem

Does your speed sensative dealy work? (wiper intermittent time gets shorter with speed?)

I have a speed sensitive delay? Which setting is that? I'll have to take her out and give it a whirl, but I don't seem to remember ever encountering something of the sort.

I know that all but the fastest settings set it at 12 seconds, and the fastest setting jumps up to 2 seconds.

Re: Intermettent wiper problem

Yes it is speed sensitive. At the "fastest" intermittent speed if you are stopped there will be a delay of a couple seconds but leave it on that setting and I believe it is when you hit 20 or 25mph there will not be a delay, slow back down and the delay starts again.

Re: Intermettent wiper problem

At some speed, I forget what exactly but it's fairly quick (90 MPH or so) no matter what intermittent setting you are on the wipers will not pause.

Oh, then I have no idea. I don't really have anywhere that I can go 90 up here right now. Especially with a bit of snow and crappy all seasons

So I don't really have any way to test that. Since swapping the module didn't change anything I'd assume that it works just fine since it should be controlled by the intermittent module.

Ah, that explains a lot. I have seen this exhibited. I just thought that it was b0rked and sometimes was intermittent would work and other times it wouldn't. Well that's one thing figured out (the joys of not having an owners manual I guess).
